5Problem with the ignition switch

failure date:16.06.2013

The 2000 Honda Accord v6 died at a traffic light without warning and has since become more common over ever shorter periods of time/distances. On the first few instances like this, it would just shut off while stopped or being driven, but it could be reset by putting the car in park and restarting it. No warning, gasping, shaking, etc. from any of the dying. The only indication that it went off is that the instrument panel indicator lights were all on, as if the car was about to start. During the reset, the instrument panel lights will illuminate as they should before starting. As of yesterday the pattern has changed and it still turns off and the dash lights come on but when you shift into park and try to restart none of the dash lights come on and all you hear is that the Engine starts but eventually won't start, after that After a few minutes (1-5 minutes) I was able to restart the car and the dash lights came on as they should before restarting. Unfortunately this pattern changed again late yesterday and the lights didn't come on even after 40 minutes when trying to restart. I called Honda on 6/18/2013 and spoke to an agent and told him I believe this is the same issue. Honda had a recall for ignition key handling in recall #36754 in the US and another in Canada for the same issue as my agreement shows. Honda seems to want to hide behind the idea that if my VIN isn't on the recall, I'm out of luck. This is a life-threatening driving condition - the car stalls without warning while driving. I'm sure there are other owners with the same problem (the internet is full of owners reporting this problem) who just had their car serviced but never submitted a report here to bring the problem to your organization's attention close.

On several occasions I have left the car running and attempted to get out of the vehicle after shutting off the engine, only for the car to start rolling forward or backward. The condition is extremely dangerous. Interestingly, this is the very issue that NHTSA has issued a callback number for. 05v025000. The dealer and the American Honda Motor CO. (Video) KEY WON'T TURN IN IGNITION-HOW TO FIX IT

My Honda Accord ex 2000 stops and goes out while the car is in motion. I've experienced this several times in the last month at 46,000 miles. This is very dangerous on the road without warning. I took the car to the Honda dealer to have it fixed, they say they can't find the cause of this. However, after reading many customer complaints on one page, I found that this was caused by an ignition switch malfunction. The electrical contacts in the ignition switch wear out prematurely, causing the switch to malfunction and causing the vehicle to stall.

I drive an accord 2000 coupe lx 4 cyc. And eventually my car would just lose power and die. As soon as my car loses power, I can no longer control it. Several times in a curve and with traffic behind me. Luckily I managed to pull onto the hard shoulder before an accident happened. I have taken the car to the dealer many times but each time they have said nothing is wrong and there are no 2000 recalls just 98-99 offers. They said they would like to take care of the problem, but at my expense. I was outraged that nothing was done to address this issue. I believe this is a serious issue that Honda needs to address before I seriously injure myself and/or others. I have raised my concerns with many traders but none of them are willing to come up with a solution.

Can I remove the key from my Accord 2000 while it's still in gear? I did this once because I thought I had left the car in the parking lot and after I got out of the car it started rolling backwards. Although there was a recall on the '98 and '99 Accords due to the same issue, the Honda customer service reps told me that I would have to take my car to a Honda dealership and pay to have it checked. However, they didn't promise me that they could do anything for me after the inspection.
