Is your CarPlay not working after you recently updated your iPhone?
What is difficult when it comes to troubleshooting CarPlay is dealing with the various systems in the car other than your iPhone. If none of the tips in this article work, there is likely a problem with your vehicle's infotainment system.
There should be someone you can contact at the vehicle manufacturer. The best advice I can give you is to make sure your vehicle has the latest firmware installed. Your car manual may also contain useful information.

CarPlay-Problema con iOS 13
With iOS 13, Apple has simplified the CarPlay dashboard.
The iOS 13 Dashboard makes it easy to track maps, audio controls, and Siri Suggestions. Plus, you can now use the CarPlay dashboard to control HomeKit accessories like garage door openers.
Problems with Kenwood car audio systems?
If you own a Kenwood CarPlay device and just updated to iOS 13, check out Kenwood's guide on this issue via this latest tweet.
If you are using another brand, please refer to the specific communication for that brand. You can check their website or Twitter account for the latest iOS 13 updates.
Try different USB cables and ports
iPhones have always been picky about third-party cables. Try connecting it to the car with the cable that came with the iPhone.
If you're already using one of Apple's original cables, it's worth trying a few different ones to see if there are any issues.
Some cars have multiple CarPlay-compatible USB ports.
If the port you used earlier doesn't work, try connecting to other USB ports if they are available.
Make sure CarPlay is turned on and not blocked
Every vehicle handles CarPlay differently. In some vehicles, the feature must be activated before you can use it. Even so, some tricky issues arise.
For example, when you connect an iPhone to the USB port, some vehicles do not allow CarPlay activation. The iPhone had to be connected.
The lesson here is to check your vehicle manual to see if you need to enable CarPlay. Also, it can take a while to get CarPlay working if you're having trouble.
Check screen time and CarPlay restrictions
If you use Restrictions on your iPhone, you may have accidentally turned off CarPlay.
Sign in on your iPhoneSettings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Appsthe previous iOS,General > Restrictionsand then enter your password.
Scroll until you find CarPlay and adjust the settings to allow CarPlay.
Alternatively, you can temporarily disable Screen Time by going toSettings > Screen time > Turn off screen time.
Bluetooth problem with CarPlay and your iPhone
I know it's a recurring theme, but every vehicle seems to have different quirks when it comes to CarPlay.
Using a Bluetooth connection and CarPlay is another example. Some vehicles handle both connections with ease, but others don't.
If you're having trouble connecting to CarPlay, remove the Bluetooth connection between your iPhone and the vehicle. Reboot your iPhone and try using CarPlay again.
Another thing you can try is to remove all connections to another vehicle. Check your Bluetooth settings to see if you still have old connections.
Go toAjustes > General > CarPlayto see if you have other CarPlay connections with another vehicle. Try removing them to see if that resolves the issue.
It's also worth trying removing and reconnecting your current vehicle here.
How to fix night mode for maps
By default, the Maps app uses dark mode at night. But sometimes it just won't wake up and it can be blinding to use normal mode at night.
Sometimes this problem can be fixed by starting navigation to any location. Dark mode starts as soon as the app switches to browsing.
If you cancel browsing, dark mode should remain.
Another solution is to adjust your vehicle's dimmer. Almost all vehicles have a knob or dial that adjusts the interior lights at night.
Interestingly, CarPlay is tied to the dimmer on some vehicles. Dark mode kicks in on these vehicles as soon as you make the interior a bit darker.
Some vehicles even have separate dash dimmers and additional interior lighting. Again, you may need to play around a bit to find what works for your vehicle.
Spotify doesn't work with CarPlay
Some people find that Spotify stopped working with CarPlay after updating iOS. The music still plays on Spotify, but opening the Spotify app in CarPlay only shows a black screen.
Trying all the common solutions is a good place to start here. Close and reopen the Spotify app. Disconnect iPhone from the vehicle and try again.
There seems to be a problem with the integration of Waze and Spotify when using CarPlay. Waze is a new addition to CarPlay on iOS.
If you have Waze and Spotify integration enabled in Waze settings, try disabling it. Disabling the integration should fix the Spotify issue in CarPlay.
I hope one of these tips helped resolve any issues you've had getting CarPlay up and running. Let us know in the comments if you found any other useful tips.
CarPlay shows a black screen
Many users, especially the people using the iPhone X series (X, XR, XS), have already seen this problem. The touch functionality works and you can hear the audio line but the screen is black.
This has happened to me from time to time in my car and on my iPhone X.
The best solution seems to be to turn off the car and restart the phone.
This solves the problem for most users.
CarPlay issues with iPhone XS/XR and newer iOS
Lastly, some iPhone XS users are still facing CarPlay issues even after updating to the latest iOS version.
One of our readers pointed out that connecting the phone to a USB charger solves CarPlay problems.
This basically keeps the battery at 100% (fully charged) and mitigates the CarPlay issue. This might be a solution for some of you until Apple fixes this issue.
The only good update coming through iOS seems to fix the old black/black screen issue.
Before the update, many users reported that when opening a third-party app like Google Play Music or NPR One, the screen would go black and they couldn't see any of their playlists.
The only way was to control it through your iPhone. Some people have had success removing the objectionable app like NPR One.
With the current iOS, Apple has fixed many of these problems. If you haven't updated to the latest version of iOS yet, consider doing so.
Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions or suggestions to share.
